Book Review: The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

51737

Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary

My Rating: 4 stars

“It’s all in the view. That’s what I mean about forever, too. For any one of us our forever could end in an hour, or a hundred years from now. You never know for sure, so you’d better make every second count.”

Its been a year since Macy’s father died and she still hasn’t allowed herself to grieve. She works her way through life, studying for the SAT’s and being a good daughter for her work-obsessed mother. She has a perfect boyfriend who is leaving her behind for the summer and going to a ‘Brain Camp’. She has her whole summer planned for her but she can feel herself changing when she finds an unexpected job with the chaotic Wish Catering.

The Truth About Forever is the second book i’ve read by Sarah Dessen. The other one is Just Listen. Both the books are about the aftermath of an incident that happened to the main character. It is about how they deal with it and learn to get over it.

I liked this book. Sarah Dessen’s writing is simple and very easy to read. Her stories are meaningful and touching. You see how the character develops and you feel proud of them. The book felt real to me. The romance wasn’t a big thing in this book and i liked that. I liked the close friendship Macy and Wes developed and how they understood each other.
