My Favorite Books Of 2018

The best books I read this year!

Hi everyone! Happy New Year and I wish you all a great year 🙂

Do you all remember me? Its been months now that I’ve been very inconsistent with posting. I started college in August (studying English Literature :D) and life has become very hectic since then. I still need to figure out how to keep up with blogging and bookstagramming.

Here are my most memorable reads from 2018 in no particular order.

The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

This year I was introduced to something amazing- The Mahabharata. Since then, I have been wanting to read as some retellings of this epic. I absolutely love The Palace of Illusions. I loved reading the story through Draupadi’s eyes. The way the author presents her and Karna’s stories make me badly root for them. Another amazing aspect of the book was Panchali and Krishna’s friendship.

Gurgaon Diaries by Debeshi Gooptu

Gurgaon Diaries

This book was so fun to read that I absolutely did not want it to end. The author’s writing style, her observations and daily-life anecdotes in a hilarious style made me love this book.

Pyjama Profit: The Millennial’s Guide to a Sustainable Freelance Career by Varun Mayya and Abhinav Chhikara

Pyjama Profit: The Millennial's Guide to a Sustainable Freelance Career by [Mayya, Varun, Chhikara, Abhinav]

A short, to-the-point and useful book. Highly recommend to anyone looking to get into freelance work.

The Beautifull Cassandra by Jane Austen

The Beautifull Cassandra

I absolutely loved reading these super short stories. Jane Austen is witty and has an amazing sense of humor. I really wish there was more of these stories and that they were continued. The characters were dramatic and even ridiculous. Besides this, I’ve only read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and I feel like there’s a lot more of her to explore.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

I did not many romance or fantasy books in 2018 so this was a perfect mixture of both for me! This was an enjoyable and heart-breaking read.

Family Don’t End with Blood: Cast and Fans on How Supernatural Has Changed Lives by Lynn Zubernis

This book absolutely warmed my heart and I fell even more in love with Supernatural. It is amazing how life-changing this show has been for so many people. The fandom and the cast are full of wonderful people. The last essay was by Jared Padalecki (my favorite actor/celebrity/playing my fictional boyfriend) and I will definitely be coming back to it.

Demons In My Mind by Aashish Gupta

This book is a brilliant horror and psychological thriller. If you like this genre, you have to read this book. Read my full review of it here.

How to Be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life by Lilly Singh

Another practical self-help book. I’m a fan of Lilly Singh and I highly admire her hard work and positive personality.

Soul of a Wanderer by Jayasekaran Pillai

Soul of a Wanderer

This is a collection of short stories containing the author’s experiences in various parts of India. This was a really nice and short rainy-day read. The stories were simple and heartwarming and they all taught a valuable lesson. I really enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it.

Battling Injustice: 16 Women Nobel Peace Laureates by Supriya Vani

This is a book that everyone should read. Read my full review of it here.

Hope you guys enjoyed reading my list! What were your favorite reads? What are you currently reading? Let me know in the comments!
